I’m a huge fan of working from home. The flexibility of not having to deal with a commute is a huge perk. But, there is a side benefit, too. When you are home, you can enjoy your time. You can do your work, or your hobbies, or whatever you’re doing. You are in control of your life. There is no one there to tell you what to do.
When we were in the age of e-book publishing we had to buy a new e-book. So, we started out in a store, then a computer shop, then a shop of other people’s books. And then we started building our own bookstores. We all just want to get out of the way so we can get a good book.
In the past, most retailers would have closed down shop and left their employees in the street. But, these days, you can still find a lot of small shop/store owners that are trying to survive and keep their doors open. In Minneapolis, there are a few that still do this and, along with that, there are a few other shops that do this in other parts of the country.
For most of us, that means making money and making our living. This is the goal of so many businesses who try to open shop. And, for those of us who just want to make enough money to pay for the rent, utilities, and food, this is what we do too. But there are also some of us who are very interested in opening our own business. It’s a business, after all, that takes money, which is what businesses are.
So what makes us different? We’re not just looking to make money and be self-employed. We’re also not looking to cut corners when it comes to office supplies or office furniture or computers. We’re looking to do things that really matter.
The thing is that we’re a lot more cautious about making money and doing things that really matter. We don’t just work on the things that matter; we make them and we do them. We don’t only make the money we make—we use it to produce more products and services than anything else—we put in the time and money we need to make our own decisions.
I have never worked at a place or a company where the people in the offices and the people who make the decisions are not willing to be as open to change and new ideas as we are. I think that goes a long way. We are the ones who lead the way. We are the ones who are willing to do things that matter and that matter a lot.
We are an organization that works on developing our employees, not telling them what to do. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the company that you’re about to join is so small and has such a low starting hourly wage. These are the people who make the decisions, we are the ones who do the work, so let’s not tell them what to do. We want them to be the ones who make the decisions, not us.
I think about this a lot. I am in a company which is really small, but I know from experience that it is not small enough for that to be the norm. I think the small size of some companies is a reason that they dont have enough people to make much of a difference, and that their employees are underpaid. I also think that small companies don’t have the same level of autonomy as large companies do.
Small companies are in a position of having less freedom. They have fewer people to make decisions for them. In a larger company this would not be the case. They would have more people to make decisions for them, but the freedom to make decisions would be limited by the people in the company.
