The new job is great. I love how it’s a part time position. I get to have a schedule and a boss. I get to work with a lot of people I’d never get to hang out with in the past. It’s also a new experience in that I’m now working with a lot of smart people. Now I get to meet new people, and I have a lot of fun doing so.
Its a new opportunity for our job search. Most of our job search takes place at the job market. We meet employers, and we send job applications over the internet. This is the best one because it allows for us to meet employers in person. So instead of just sending over a resume, we can now send over a resume that highlights how we’ve been networking and how we’ve learned about specific employers.
What makes a resume even more unique is the fact that employers can now review a resume theyve already seen. This allows them to see how theyve learned about you. This is a great opportunity to see if you are a fit for the position, and it gives employers the ability to make a more informed and tailored hiring decision.
While we work for a different company, we were invited to a conference last week in Richmond, Kentucky. We were given the opportunity to meet with a bunch of different employers in the same building that we work in. The job postings were posted in the same manner as the resume, and we were able to go over each post with the HR rep.
That was it. We were given a brief tour and told that we were being invited to apply for a job opportunity. We then were told that we had until the end of the day to apply. You can’t do that. It was basically a “we’re not going to give you a meeting with all of our people if you’re going to be out of town. We’ll just give you a few more interviews. We can’t do that.
Yeah, it’s not like you can just say, “Hey, I want to apply, I’m available for the job, see me later.” And then all of the sudden, you have a job, or at least a job offer. It was basically a were not going to give you a meeting with all of our people if youre going to be out of town.
It is worth noting that the fact that you can’t just say, Hey, I want to apply, Im available for the job, see me later.
I’m not saying that anyone should be given a job based on the fact that they’re out of town. I’m just saying that we should really think about it and give more interviews if you’re going to be out of town.
You may be thinking “yeah, so I’m out of town for a few days and I have to return to work? Great!”. But the truth is that we wouldnt know if you weren’t out of town. And that is exactly why the job posting process sucks. It sucks because you have to know what you’re looking for.
