I graduated magna cum laude in the spring of my undergrad. I did my thesis in music theory and performance at Syracuse University and then went on to become the music director of the university’s opera company. After my graduation, I continued my academic career as a music professor at the university level.
That was my second degree, so I know all the ins and outs of academic life. While I’ve enjoyed the experience, I’m glad that the day I graduated was the day I left the academic job market.
Ive always wanted to be a music professor. Ive been a teacher for many years, and Ive enjoyed doing so. Im glad I could use that time to write my resume. Ive found that a strong resume isnt always enough to get a job, but its a good way to demonstrate to employers that youre interested in their job.
One of the benefits of being an adjunct professor (as opposed to a regular full-time professor) is that you get to spend a little more time teaching and less time doing the actual teaching. You dont have to sit around the office all day and talk about stuff your students are struggling with. This means you can spend more time with your students, and less time working on your own stuff.
If youre a high school dropout and youre applying for a first class teaching position, youll probably get the best of both worlds. Youll get lots of free time to focus on teaching, and also youll be less likely to get rejected for the simple fact that you arent going to be doing the actual teaching anymore. I have a friend that is in the early stages of applying for a first class teaching position.
If youre a student that is doing a good job, youll probably be at the top of the list for the first class. If youre in the middle of a semester, youll be in the lower middle of the list. If youre in the lower middle of the list, youre probably going to get a bit of a hard time.
It is important to note that not everyone in the teaching field is comfortable teaching in a classroom environment. If youre the type of person that likes the solitude and solitude, youll be at a great disadvantage by not having the freedom to teach in the classroom environment. Thats why it’s important to make sure youre teaching in a setting that is conducive to learning.
This is the area where youll see the most discrepancy between resumes. I recently interviewed with a faculty member that was really interested in teaching and doing research, but was hesitant to teach. I told her that I would be willing to teach her, but only for one semester. She was very grateful for the offer, but still had some hesitancy about the setting.
Even though she’s a very strong teacher and she’s very talented, she doesn’t have the time or inclination to teach me. You always think about what you’re teaching, and when you hear someone say that, you’re very likely to be a little confused. If you want to teach, be prepared for the next level. You’re teaching in a setting where there is a lot of stress or stressors that you have to deal with.
